Initiation is the age-old process of progressing forward on a spiritual path. For the first time in history, Initiation is available to all people, making possible exciting spiritual growth, but also creating "tests" that we each must overcome. There are eleven Initiations in all, but currently most humans are experiencing only the first three or four...

The First Initiation marks the time when we are called to the Path. It signifies the moment when we first dimly sense our spiritual natures and begin to move our attention in the higher Path. We are not as yet consciously aware that we are making spiritual decisions, but we become more interested in "doing the right thing" in our lives.

The Second Initiation is when we become more firmly anchored on the Path. This is when we make our first conscious decisions to check out the interests that have been pulling at us. We still don't yet associate a "service" or helping angle to this inquiry; we are just satisfying our own curiosity and going with our own inner cues. We may faintly begin to recognize that these inner suggestions might have some value in decision making, but at this point we still are more interested in ourselves than in others. This is what psychologists call the "recovery" period, the time of "getting ourselves together." Our focus at this time in our spiritual evolution is of necessity mainly on ourselves and we don't as yet see how our personal transformation and unfoldment will affect others. Yet, near the end of the Second Initiation, there begins to grow a seed within us that intuitively tells us that there is more to our lives, that perhaps soon we will want to look beyond ourselves and see what else is out there. We begin to feel safer, and therefore freer, to be open with others. The desire to share with and to care for others slowly begins to grow.

Then comes a "testing time." Between the Second and the Third Initiations, we are called upon to begin consciously evaluating our spiritual lives and sorting out our priorities. This is a time of great challenge and is often quite painful. It is the time of separating the wheat from the chaff, as only those who "pass the test" will continue on to the Third Initiation.

The Third Initiation is the first Initiation that is considered worthy of notice by what is called the spiritual "Hierarchy," or heavenly realm. It is not until we have reached this stage that the Hierarchy (the angels and ascended masters) officially "recognize" us. (If we can refuse to politically "recognize" other countries, I don't suppose we have a right to complain when the angels do the same to us.) The Third Initiation marks a significant milestone in our spiritual progress, a special place on our Path. At this time, for the first time ever, we become able to become true "partners" with the higher spiritual sources that guide us. By this time, we have resolved our personal emotional issues and we have freed up significant areas within our subconscious minds that can be used by the spiritual sources to work through us. One of the most amazing and special gifts of the Path received at this time is the gift of spiritual, or shamanic, healing.

Each of us becomes a healer at the Third Initiation, simply because we become at this point clear and open channels for the spiritual Light. As receivers of that Light, we are then able to spread its healing and balancing energy to others, merely by being present within their "space." Of course, there are some of us who will be better at spreading the Light than others, and all who chose to encourage the talent will be able to enhance it. But for some of us, the healing touch comes not only as a natural part of the Third Initiation, but as a Third Initiation "gift" as well. Then the gift of healing becomes a special psychic talent that is enfolded into our destiny and becomes part of our spiritual work.

- The Third Initiation is marked by a spiritual "test" where the person is faced with their greatest conflict between ego and soul choices, and often involves an act of faith or trust (can they let go of trying to make something - usually something very important to them at the time -happen and trust the Path to lead them in the right direction?).

- The Third Initiation has physical, mental and emotional symptoms (ringing in the ears, a loss of mental focus, a "jazzed" or "electrified" feeling due to increased energy vibrations entering the body). These are listed on pg. 15-17.

- The Third Initiation is also marked by a person's ability to make contact with higher spiritual masters and to receive "gifts" of the Path - such as the ability to do spiritual healing.

- This is a special time in the process of evolution as for the first time ever, not only as individuals, but as a planet as a whole we are all advancing one Initiation (creating "Planetary Initiation"). If we collectively "pass the test," our planet will move into the next phase which will introduce the "age of Light and Life."
